I thought this would be cool to share because of how different it is! Plus i'm dying to try it :)
If found this on a blog I follow, A Beautiful Mess. She always has the greatest ideas and cool new things to try.
She said that it doesn't turn out perfect and it also is going to come out reversed but that is what makes it so unique! You only need a canvas, gel medium (she recommended liquidex), a paint brush, a spray bottle of water and a laser copy of your special image. Its 5 special steps and i've copied the picture to on the right to help!
1. Completely cover the canvas with a heavy coat of your gel medium.
2. Then press your photo copy onto the canvas completely letting it dry several hours or overnight.
3. Then use a spray bottle to wet the top of the paper.
4. Rub the surface with your fingers until pieces of the paper start coming off. When that happens, you'll image will be revealed. Be patient :) and don't rub too hard! Continue until all the paper is removed and the image is completely visible.
5. Then to protect the image use one more coat of your gel medium to seal the deal.
I hope yours turns out as good as hers did! I cannot wait to try it over spring break :) I'll post a picture of my finished product after I try.
Once again, i just figured it would be cool to share with you some ideas and maybe different ones you hadn't heard before of ways to use your images. It's great to be able to put them away and save those memories in a scrapbook but this takes it one step further!
This is a link to her blog if you wanted to check it out as well :) : http://abeautifulmess.typepad.com/my_weblog/2011/10/make-your-own-canvas-portrait.html
